Relative Opioid Potency VS. Morphine

A growing number of products sold under the guise of “kratom extracts” contain concentrated synthetic 7-OH — a powerful opioid-like compound that bears little resemblance to natural kratom leaf. While natural kratom contains only trace amounts of natural 7-OH, concentrated synthetic products can contain levels that are hundreds of times higher. Some research has found concentrated synthetic 7-OH to be approximately 13 times more potent than morphine. That’s why lawmakers, public health experts, and federal regulators are increasingly calling attention to these products and urging action to address this emerging public health concern.
